To keep the tunes and fun times going, cold drinks are needed. Nothing breaks down a jam session quite like having to walk back and forth to get cold drinks from the fridge. I love playing music with my friends. We get together at least twice a week. I figured it was time to start upgrading our space to suit our needs. A beer and wine cooler is where I decided to start.

I looked for something that was versatile, reliable, and streamlined. I hope to make the entire space look finished, and even get it ready for recording. My bar area is where I am going to start. Some of my friends drink beer, others like mixed drinks. When my wife joins the party, she likes white wine. I was hoping to find something that could house mixers, cans or bottles of beer, and a wine bottle or two. These are the coolers I looked at, and the one I ended up choosing.

Wine Enthusiast Evolution Series Beverage Center

I hear that this is one of the best beer fridges on the market. It also doesn’t have a terrible price tag. I really like the adjustable shelves. It isn’t very large at around 2.2 cubic feet. Though it may be small, you can still fit up to 86 cans in this bad boy. That could keep the music flowing for days! The temperature is easily adjustable between 34 to 43 degrees fahrenheit.

One of the problems people have with this unit is the energy consumption. Most fridges this size will cost you around $5 to run each year. This one is over three times that number at $18 a year. However, unlike cheaper beverage coolers, it has a reliable and even temperature from top to bottom. You can rest assured that every can and bottle is chilled to perfection. Other users said it doesn’t make that much noise. That is a good selling point for me.

Danby Contemporary Classic

At first, I thought I would only look for fridges with a glass door. This fridge is so stylish, I had to put it on my list. It looks like a traditional mini fridge, with a retro edge. I really like the red with chrome details. The chrome top is scratch resistant. The temperature control is right under the bright white LED light.

It has 3.3 cubic feet of storage space. That’s enough for more than just beverages. It includes two and a half tempered glass shelves you can adjust to fit your needs. I really like the beverage dispenser design on the inside of the door. You can store eight cans, all ready to grab. Many people love how quiet it is. One person has one in their conference room and they don’t even know it’s there. It is also energy star certified, so it will cost less to run long-term.

You can see that Danby is a great mini-fridge manufacturer. I really like the look of all of their fridges. This one is a little bigger than the Wine Enthusiast, yet it holds 85 cans. I like the glass front. That will help me to see if we need to take a break and walk down to the package store. You can also find it at a lot of retailers, so you can shop around to find the best price.

I really like the adjustable shelves. You can switch it up to fit just about any size bottle or can you need. One downside I noticed is that it only cools between 43 and 57 degrees fahrenheit. However, with a little know-how, you can get in and adjust the thermostat. Some people will really enjoy the lock feature. It’s a good way to separate what the kids should be drinking. The glass is designed to keep UV light from damaging wines, and to keep the temperature cooler when it is in full-sun.

One thing I don’t like is the noise. It is a little bit louder than the other options on my list, and I wonder if adjusting the thermostat would make it even louder. We like our drinks really cold! While it’s a nice looking fridge, I didn’t choose this option. It’s probably better if you are just storing red wines.

In the end, I chose to go with the Danby Contemporary Classic. I really like how it looks in our space and the versatility of the shelving. It really does fit everything we need to keep the ice cold drinks coming. When cold drinks are needed, try getting a beverage cooler of your own. You’ll be glad you did!
